Getting Ready for School
Getting Ready for School was developed by UALR's Children's Research in cooperation with the Arkansas School Readiness Team and the Arkansas Department of Human Services, Division of Child Care and Early Childhood Education. The continuing series for the state of Arkansas and the 75 counties is a comprehensive examination in tabular and graphic format under the broad categories of Children, Families, Schools, and Communities.
Arkansas is one of 17 states to participate in The School Readiness Indicators Initiative to develop a comprehensive set of school readiness indicators to inform public policy for young children and their families. This initiative is sponsored by the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation and the Ford Foundation.
Getting Ready for School 2011, Arkansas Map Data presents a series of indicators that influence a child's ability to succeed in school. It is a compilation of data in map format designed to provide reliable measures with which to guide state's families, legislative leaders, educators, and communities in creating the best path to ensure our children are ready to learn.
